Surviving on Love

I'm sorry it's been over a week since my last post....I got what I consider Deathly ill. At least for me. I never really get sick, with a fever and everything. And I had strep throat and a fever. Then my 2 boys got fevers, one had a cough and the other had croup. And of course this will happen on the week my husband started his new job so he couldn't take off at all to help me. It. Was. Hard. That's all there is to say. But I just slept on the couch, let the house go, and made the kids go to bed early along with me.

And now, I'm still alive despite my beliefs last week. (Smirk.)

And then last Friday when I was starting to feel human, I found out that one of my best friends from elementary school was in the hospital on life support and in a coma. I went into semi-shock. WHAT? Not sure I could say I'd ever be that person. But there I was, rushing to visit her and see what was happening. Yes, there she was, swollen, filled with fluids, on a breathing machine, not expected to live in 48-72 hours. I was broken. I had only spoken with her on Facebook the last 2 years. Horrible friend I am. But I did that thing a lot of us do. I took the easy road. I used an easy method to "stay in touch", when I needed to reach out. People, friends, need us to call. To talk. To send letters. To receive hugs. They need to know they are cared about. And God demands this of us. He demands that we love one another, that we love our neighbors. And that doesn't just mean our friends. However, that was Gods example he put point blank in front of me. And boy am I ever grateful.

I'd forgotten how much I love this friend. How much she and I need each other. Friday was the first time I saw her. Over last weekend, she got worse and family was saying goodbyes. By Tuesday, I was visiting her, OFF the breathing machine, and having a conversation and laughing! God performed a miracle in my life this week. And I'll always be so grateful that I got to see it.

WOW...that is awesome!! Not only that your friend is okay but that you got to watch a miracle. What a huge blessing for the both of you. I am so glad she is okay...and that you are feeling better. I am sure the Lord was showing you something and that He will be using you.
