Not ME Monday!

This past week I definately did not stay up all night just so I could clean my kitchen in peace. Nope, not me. I didn't reorganize where the kids crafts go and the mail area in the middle of the night just so I didn't have to listen to whining....NOT ME! I love to multitask during the day cooking dinner, cleaning and maintaining the chaos all at one time- LOVE IT!

I most certainly did NOT get all of the kids piled into the jeep then for some reason throw my keys into the front seat and lock the doors. Because I'm a perfect mother and would never lock my kids into the car. Then of course I would never NOT have a spare key. And then of course my kids would not be freaking out and crying no matter how many funny faces and dancing I did outside the car. And then of course when the Firetruck and Firemen got there they of course were able to open the door before the Maintenance men at my apartments-NOT! And of course I didn't know that one of the abilities of Maintenance at your apartment is to open your locked car.....Now I do.

I also did not see my 5 year old newly potty trained son drop trow outside our apartments and go peepee. Nope! And then I did not hear from his teacher that he did the same thing on the playground at school! Nope, not my kid! My kids have perfect manners!

And most definatly did not get angry at my husband last night when while we were at Santa he told the kids that when we got home and after dinner we could make christmas sugar cookies! Nope, not me! And then we it actually came time to make them, and of course I MADE THEM, I didn't get frustrated at my husband again. Not because I was already exhausted and had a long day did I yell at my husband and then make him put our sugar filled green icing mouth stained kids to bed by himself.

NOPE, NOT ME! LOL!

progress for the sake of progress....

Bubba's been doing great in so many areas lately. And I even had Parent/Teachers conferences yesterday to prove it.
His speech has been so great lately I can understand 50-60% of what he says most of the time. Maybe more some days. It's constantly growing. The other night we were getting ready for bed. His sister had crazy hair after taking out her pony tail. He looked over at her and said "Sister has Crazy hair, she's having a bad hair day!". This kid is hilarious! I didn't know where he even learned that phrase until I told his teacher and she died laughing.....she always talks about having a bad hair day at school. (yeah right, she's beautiful!)

He's potty training continuously now. He's been able to go potty for at least a year now, but hasn't wanted to. So we've been patient and waited until he was ready. With his teachers help we started it back up when school started. We've gone a little back and forth the last couple of weeks when he decided he was fed up with it. There's not really any "making" an autistic child use the potty. All I can do is bribe and praise him. Which is currently working. Bubba loves praise. We'll see how it continues to go. I'd love him to be trained by Christmas.

He is doing great in school. He's in a PPCD program thru the local ISD.(Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities) So they work on millions of things that are getting him ready for kindergarden next year! He's doing great with writing, spelling, letters, numbers, shapes and colors.
He absolutely loves the computer. He plays on it at school and they said he totally knows how to navigate the mouse after one try! I'm impressed.

I'm just so glad that he seems to be on the same academic level as typical children. We are having to work on attention and other issues that he'll have when entering kinder....so we'll see how this year continues.

the search....

So, I've been kind of on a leave of absence from the search on a recovery plan for Noah....I'm not even sure if he'll ever recover. But at least a helpful plan to get him thru his life as easy as possible for him.

I'm restarted that search. First I'm going to try to get him into this Developmental Pediatrician I've heard that's great here in the big D. I have to send in all of this paperwork(which takes forever), then they will review and call me for an appointment. I'm really hoping this will help me on this roller coaster ride which I seem to be alone on.

Since Noah was diagnosed through the school district, there is really no one that I can go to for real advice. I have other Autism Moms, but that's it. I need a doctor. Someone that can help me with some treatments and testing and supplements. Someone to help me from the doctor side of "that" community...as opposed to the Mommy side.

So we'll see what stems from that. For now I'm just trying to stay sain. Hopefully as school continues his behavior will improve from over the summer.
We will try to potty train again once the behavior gets a little better. And since my daughter is potty trained it will be much easier to focus on him rather than 2 of them.
I will need continued prayers on that. We've been trying to potty train for over 2 years with being unsuccessful. Actually, he CAN go potty.....he will just only go at his conveniece which is never.
So that is that.

I'll update when I hear from this doctor.....or something else comes about.
